NSFAS soon to open

Friday, 16 September 2022

I will soon be announcing the 2023 opening of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) application season.

Meanwhile, I wish to give all our students and parents our 2022 funding report. A total of 708,110 students have secured funding from the NSFAS for the 2022 academic year.

Of these students 204,747 are registered at TVET colleges whereas the remaining 503,363 are registered at university. Further of these students 448,375 students are continuing students whereas the remaining 259,735 are new applications.

A total of 140,492 applications for funding have been rejected. These applications have been rejected for not providing sufficient evidence to support the application for funding (64,331), exceeding the financial eligibility threshold (47,658), having already achieved the highest level of qualification that NSFAS funds at (18,023), having exceeded the N+ rule (10,423) and being non-compliant to the academic pathways of the TVET college sector (57).

All the best as we soon open the 2023 application season!
